I appreciate your interest and invite you to take a look at the information that I will provide here.
Dog Breeders have a huge Responsibility – Assuring the quality of our breed – The German Shepherd Dog
“We are an organization dedicated to protecting and preserving the German Shepherd Dog’s working heritage by hosting conformation shows, breed surveys, and Schutzhund trials. These “exams” are major contributors in ensuring that we consistently breed only the finest dogs and ensure that the German Shepherd dog continues to be the best and most versatile breed.”
Breeding dogs is a responsibility but also a beautiful task. You can purposefully contribute to the best development of our beloved breed – the German Shepherd Dog.
In addition to idealism and the love of the breed, breeding primarily requires extensive expertise. Clear objectives and experience will help too. In addition to training and titling your GSD, its also important to presenting them at breeding shows.
The financial side of breeding must also be considered: This includes the costs for the food, the veterinarian and all those expenses that are related to the approval of the dog for breeding – i.e. training, HD, ED and DNA procedures, exams, breeding shows, licensing, driving to the stud dog and the Stud fee. We dont talk yet about the costs for all the puppies to raise. The prerequisite for successful breeding is the quality of the parents and their ancestors. The choice of a suitable male for the bitch depends on the preferences (and also the faults) of the breeding partner. Further criteria’s are the relationship, the type, the line, type of hair, quality of any existing offspring and finally, the willingness of the intended dog to mate. If you have any question please get in contact with experienced breeders, or / and any of the the breed wardens of the USCA .
